When officers arrived, they saw a woman with her hands on a cat "which appeared to have its head smashed in," the report continued.

Blood was observed on the woman's feet, hands and fur was on her lips, the report said.

After taking Ferrell to Stark County jail, officers secured the "cat as evidence," police said.
